Designing a Death Star Home Theater
Three separate rooms, one starfield, and a life-sized Han Solo are just a few of the things that help two super "Star Wars" fans get their geek on in this theater.

SmX Weaves Together New Projection Screen
SmX Cinema Solutions, new to the home theater industry with its projection screens, features its CineWeave HD technology.
October 10, 2007 | by Arlen Schweiger

If it’s good enough for Hollywood post-production studios, it’s gotta be fantastic for your home theater, right? That’s the background of SmX Cinema Solutions, the latest company to offer us a variety of screens to watch our favorite movies and sports on in grand fashion.

SmX features proprietary patent-pending material called CineWeave HD, which is an audio-transparent fabric that allows for audio and video to come across to home theater goers the way Hollywood intended. That means super widescreen, too, since aspect ratios can range from 4:3 to 2.70:1, the company says.

Other highlights of CineWeave HD include 160-degree viewing angle, equal edge-to-edge brightness, and perforations three times smaller than those of micro-perf screens, SmX says.

The company’s projection screen lineup includes Pro-Line and Pro-Curv system, as well as the Pro-Mask screen-masking system and Pro-Curv fixed-curved screen system.

You can even get a little flashback to the 70s with the genuine black-velvet trimming. Your old velvet Elvis and black-light Zeppelin posters would be jealous.
