We’ve been thinking warm thoughts. So has Suntactics. The company just announced plans to offer its sCharger-5 solar charger through the online retailer Smarthome.

Using the power of the sun (when it’s available), this 5-watt charging device can actually charge devices while they are in operation. This is perfect for people that depend on an iPad or iPhone for control, security, AV, or any other features of the electronic house.

Suntactics says that the sCharger-5 is compatible with any device that can be charged via USB.

Also, because the sCharger-5 is both water- and weather-resistant, it’s convenient for indoor and outdoor use. It’s also perfect for travel, since it can fold in half. Squeeze it into a bag, a glove compartment, or both.

With products like these, we could easily become sun-worshippers. The Suntactics sCharger-5 solar charger is available now for $139.95. If you want a better idea of how the device works, as well as its compact size, check out the video walkthrough below.
