What’s lurking outside? Every single horror movie ever made has taught us that you probably don’t want to go outside. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get a good peek—even if it’s between your fingers.
Smarthome just announced its new Wireless Outdoor IP Camera (part number 75791), which allows users to get a glimpse of what’s hiding in those bushes, in the driveway, or at the front door.
Of course, you don’t even have to be hiding under the bed or at your home computer to see what’s going on. That’s certainly an option though, since these cameras can be viewed from anywhere with web access.
Smarthome says that the Wireless IP Camera can provide real-time video to any web-enabled device. It can also be set up to email images whenever motion is detected. The new camera works with the company’s HouseLinc, Insteon Desktop Software and SmartLinc, as well as the Insteon Central Controller.
“As a homeowner, knowing who and when people are at my house when I’m not home is priceless,” says Mike Scharnagl, Smarthome’s director of marketing. “Since each camera can be used stand along or in conjunction with other cameras, the scalability is perfect for the budget conscious home or business owner.”
Smarthome says that the Wireless Outdoor IP Camera will start shipping in May, but the company is taking orders now for $119.99.
