Smarthome is adding another affordable home control solution to its Insteon line. The company just announced KeypadLinc, a 6-button scene control keypad that has an on/off switch.

This dual-band solution is an alternative to the popular KeypadLinc Relay, which was first introduced in 2008. The new KeypadLinc is designed to support voltages from 120 to 277V.

The KeypadLinc can be controlled remotely via any powerline or radio frequency Insteon controllers. It also double as an access point, able to send RF signals to other Insteon devices. The company says that it actually combines an in-wall controller, a 20-amp on/off switch and an Insteon Access Point into one product.

Smarthome says that because the product is dual-band, it’s more reliable. “The new KeypadLinc Switch continues our efforts to provide the best, most reliable home automation network to our customers,” says Laurie Maroni, Smarthome’s VP of marketing. “The dual-band technology increases the reliability of the user’s entire Insteon network, while the added voltage if 277V expands the applications for the product.”

The KeypadLinc Insteon 6-Button Scene Control Keypad with ON/Off Switch (Dual-Band) should start shipping on August 15, 2011. It can be pre-ordered now for $79.99.
