SlingCatcher Now Available
The highly anticipated Sling product can add a few more viewing options.
October 09, 2008 | by Rachel Cericola

After months of waiting and wondering, SlingMedia announced that the SlingCatcher is finally available.

The set-top box brings all of your media, including broadcast TV, web favorites, and other personal PC content to the TV. Just hook the box to your home network, and the TV, of course.

Now those web favorites do include sites like YouTube, Hulu, ABC.com, Netflix and the like. However, Wired says that you can’t just stream content direct from the web, or get files off any PC in the network. In other words, if you want YouTube, you’ll need to set your PC to the site, etc.

One thing you can do, is get the SlingCatcher working together with a Slingbox, to get content off your cable/satellite lineup or DVR—even if it’s in another room. You can also connect a USB flash or hard drive to watch content as well.

So there are plenty of options for viewing. There are also plenty of options for purchasing. The $300 SlingCatcher is available now through Amazon.com and Buy.com, as well as at Best Buy, Fry’s Electronics, Microcenter and J&R.

How can I contact parkmytv. There site only has ahome page and a pay page no info. I owuld like to know what I can get from them.

I recently started using parkmytv.com to host my slingbox giving me MUCH better video quality since they dedicate outbound bandwidth (better than my home dsl) to me plus I no longer annoy my wife by changing channels on her mid-stream when I’m traveling :) I got in to an early trial I think they are still accepting sign-ups…
