Sling Media, Inc. today announced a new product called SlingCatcher, designed to deliver video experiences to a TV located in the home as well as in remote locations. Sling Media is also announcing two key applications for the SlingCatcher: SlingPlayer for TV and SlingProjector both designed to move content to the TV from a variety of video sources located in a home.

View more of our CES special coverage The SlingCatcher uses standard video outputs to connect to a TV including HDMI, component, S-Video and composite video and features both integrated wireless and a standard Ethernet jack to connect to the home network and any networked PCs.

While SlingPlayer for TV and Sling Projector are the two applications the company is discussing today, additional applications, services and partnerships should be announced closer to launch. Some of these applications will include content optimized for the SlingCatcher platform. In several cases, content will be streamed or download directly to the SlingCatcher without the need for a PC.

  • Under $200
  • Available by the middle of 2007
  • For use with wireless or Ethernet
