SlingPlayer for Mobile, coming soon to iPhone
January 06, 2009 | by Arlen Schweiger

Sling Media’s software has always played well with Windows, and now the company is sinking its teeth into Apple. This week at Macworld and CES 2009, Sling is demonstrating its SlingPlayer Mobile for the ubiquitous iPhone, and it’s also showing a prototype of SlingPlayer for Mac HD.

We heard the iPhone version was in the works about seven months ago, so we’re pretty eager to see it in action—all your favorite home TV channels, including what’s on your DVR and on-demand, all on the iPhone. It’s also on the heels of Sling Media’s making its Mobile software available on that other major smartphone, the BlackBerry, just last week.

Look for the rollout of the SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone and its Apple certification in Q1 of 2009.

As for Mac enthusiasts, they’ll soon get to see beautiful high-def slung from their TV to the desktop or laptop with Slingbox PRO-HD. It’s been out, with a $300 price tag, for Windows users already for a few months.

Mac users can tap into Safari or Firefox to get HD streaming and live TV with Sling.com, the company says.

We’re guessing the price is the same as the model for Windows; as for the SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone, the price is still TBD. Read the full press release here.
