Slacker isn’t so lazy after all. The company has been working hard on the newly announced Slacker Premium Radio, a service that offers on-demand access to the 8 million songs in Slacker’s library. That kind of carte blanche will cost you $9.99 per month.

The new service will include everything that was previously offered in the $3.99 service Slacker Radio Plus. That includes ad-free playback, unlimited song skips, news radio programming, song lyrics, and the ability to store stations and playlists on your mobile phone.

If you want Premium service, it will cost you an extra $6 each month, but offers up everything under the Slacker umbrella, including individual songs, albums, top charts, station playlists, single- artist radio stations and more.

Other Premium features include enhanced search features, the ability to skip forward and backward, a “Peek Ahead” preview, and off-line playback of stations, playlists and albums.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Slacker Premium Radio will be available through any of the service’s home players, which includes the Sony BRAVIA Internet Video Link, select Sony web-enabled Blu-ray players, the RCA Infinite Radio, and Logitech’s Squeezebox line. Each of those products are currently limited to the free Slacker Basic Radio service.

Maybe it’s time to get some type of docking device, however, since Slacker Premium Radio is now available as an app for the iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Android and BlackBerry smartphones. It can also be accessed through any web browser via the Slacker Web Player.
