Chalk up another way to get loads of music out of your Apple portable player.

The Associated Press (via the S.F. Chronicle) is reporting that Sirius XM satellite radio will be the latest player to extend its reach to the iPhone and iPod touch devices, as we know music service apps pop up for Apple all the time.

That’s sweet news for the 19 million subscribers of the struggling satellite service, a few of whom we’re guessing own an iPhone or touch and will now have a new way to access all of those channels.

According to the AP, subscriptions increased 10 percent last year, but this would be a practical and hip way to reel in some new subscribers, especially since new car sales—a major method of picking up satellite subscribers—are tanking in the current economy.

Instead of having to get a new radio to accommodate the service, you’ve already got it through your iPhone or iPod touch.

We’ll keep an eye on updates and let you know more when details—like when you can expect the app—are shed.
