Simply Stately
The big game comes alive in this themed theater.
May 01, 2006 | by EH Staff

It’s a stately looking theater, but the requirement for this space was ““simple, elegant quality.”” The owner wanted a top-drawer theater that was easy to operate for his family as well as guests, and which fit the elegance of this 18,000-square-foot summer home in the mountains of North Carolina.

The owner is a huge sports fan and loves to sit back, relax and watch Florida State play ball in high definition on his 124-inch Stewart Custom Luxus Deluxe Screen Wall, which receives a stunning image from the Sony Qualia SXRD (Silicon X-tal [Crystal] Reflective Display), a form of LCoS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology that produces high-resolution and smooth, film-like images. He and his wife can sit comfortably in a heated, massage-equipped CineLounger chairs, listening to play-by-play from a surround system that includes a JBL Synthesis Three speakers and electronics, a Sony reference DVD player, and an Escient DVD management system. It’s easily controlled by an AMX Modero touchscreen flush-mounted in a swiveling console.

Architectural firm First Impressions Theme Theaters from Miami, FL, designed and installed the theater interior, and custom electronics installer MHS then designed the display, screen, speakers, processors, touchpanel control, lighting control, HVAC control, and source equipment to fit.
