Protecting your home, your possessions, and your family shouldn’t be a hassle. SimpliSafe agrees, so they’ve introduced affordable home security that you should be able to install yourself.
The hook on the SimpliSafe system is that it’s a total home monitoring setup, without the lengthy, expensive setup process. Yes, you should be able to install it all by yourself. From there, you won’t be locked into a long-term contract. However, there is a monthly fee, which runs between $14.99 and $24.99, depending on your features.
Speaking of which: There are currently two SimpliSafe packages. Starting at $169, the original SimpliSafe is a burglar alarm designed for both home and apartment dwellers. The setup is a cellular-based alarm system, with optional 24/7 monitoring. If you want to kick in an extra $100, you can opt for the new SimpliSafe2, which adds in sensors, smartphone access, text and email alerts, and the option for multiple keypads and water alarms.
According to the company, those sensors aren’t just for intruders; you can also set them up to trigger someone sneaking into the liquor cabinet or other areas where you want to keep random hands off.
That initial hardware investment should last you a while, too. Because SimpliSafe is wireless, it’s just as easy to uninstall. In other words, it’s ready to move when you move. Also, it’s easy to expand, with extra entry sensors ($14.99 each), motion sensors ($29.99 each), and keypads ($69.99 each) available. SimpliSafe is also planning to release a $29.99 smoke detector into the lineup soon.

One is a subsidiary of DTS, with the other looking to gain traction via Indiegogo.
