Who plays Dexter’s girlfriend, Hannah? When was the last time that Ray Donovan star Jon Voight starred in a movie? These and many more questions can be answered, all through your LG Smart TV.
Showtime just announced a partnership with the TV maker that will put SHO Sync on LG’s 2012 and 2013 Smart TVs. Using LG’s LivePlus technology, viewers can interfact with Showtime programming as it’s happening, all on the TV screen.
The hook on SHO Sync is that it’s not really an app. There’s nothing to download or install. It’s just synchronized, interactive content that plays alongside the program. If SHO Sync sounds familiar, it’s because it launched on the iPad as a two-screen companion app. Now, the network is bringing it to the big(ger) screen.
SHO Sync includes special features, as well as character backgrounds, interactive trivia and polls at precise points in the show.
SHO Sync works with live, On Demand, DVR and DVD recorded content. As soon as LG LivePlus recognizes a Showtime original series episode as SHO SYNC-enabled, an invitation to play along will appear on screen. That way, you don’t have to have the distraction—if you consider it to be one.
“SHO Sync for Smart TVs is a breakthrough for the industry, offering a rich and interactive experience with a strong focus on content, where consumers can enjoy their favorite SHOWTIME series,” said Donald Buckley, Showtime’s executive VP of program marketing and digital services. “For the first time, viewers can click a single button using their remotes and interact in a completely new way with our programming.”
