For as long as I can remember, I’ve been excited at the idea of getting Verizon’s FiOS service. The fastest Internet possible at my fingertips, with no real competition.

Next month, I’m moving and, for the first time, I’ll be living in a place where FiOS is available.

But I’ve got a problem. Now that I have the option, do I really need FiOS?

Right Now, Cable is Doing the Job
Currently, I have Comcast’s high-speed Cable Internet. I’ve never had a problem with the service, and the speed is absolutely fine. (I don’t have PowerBoost or any of their upsell options.)

I’ve talked before about why I can’t cut the cable cord, so if I were to switch away from Comcast, I’d either get Verizon’s TV service (how is it? I’ve heard mixed) or have two different service providers.

Since I do watch most of my TV ... on the TV ... I don’t do heavy video downloading from iTunes or VUDU. Most of my video comes from daily podcasts, and Comcast seems to be handling that pretty good.

When it comes to pricing, FiOS is going to cost a bit more for a comparable HD package, especially since I recently re-negotiated my monthly bill.

But still, it’s FiOS. It’s the fastest service I could possibly get. Why wouldn’t I want to get it?

I need your help.
