We first got word of Sherwood’s BDP-5003 back in August. Now it looks like it’s coming—a month late.
Originally, the BDP-5003 was getting an October release date. Whether that was web rumor or fact, we don’t know. It doesn’t matter. All you need to know is that it’s coming next month. Oh—and one other important tidbit that hasn’t changed: the $299.95 price tag.
The profile 1.1 (Bonus View) player features 1080p playback at 60Hz or 24Hz, as well as lossless Dolby and DTS audio, via HDMI. Other features include coaxial and Toslink digital audio outputs, an Ethernet port, and DivX, JPEG and MP3 support.
“This is a very exciting time for consumers,” says Jeffrey Hipps, Sherwood’s senior VP for marketing and product development. “We are thrilled to be able to offer an advanced player that not only supports Blu-ray 1080p video output, but also has built-in decoding for the latest lossless audio formats from Dolby TruHD and DTS-Master Audio HD.”
