We first got a glimpse of Sharp’s BD-HP50U Blu-ray player at January’s CES show. Now the company says the unit is available—and it looks darn good too.

The BD-HP50U is Sharp’s second-gen AQUOS Blu-ray player. Aside from a snazzy 1080p picture at 24 frames per second, the unit also boasts BD-ROM Profile 1.1, which allows you to tap into some of the new content available on the latest Blu-ray titles.

Choose between the built-in RS-232C port or an IR input for your control needs. That way, the player can be positioned out of sight. Other features include an HDMI 1.3 digital output, Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD support, and Quick Start, which promises to get your movie loaded and running in less than 10 seconds. Also noteworthy is the Lip Sync feature, which adjusts all of your A/V processing to remove any lip synch errors.

The BD-HP50U is available now for $450.
