Sharp’s is adding a Power Saving Mode and 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced technology to some of its new models.
SlideshowSharp’s AQUOS line never ceases to get us salivating. New to the line is the D65U and D85U series of 1080p LCDs.
The 65 series includes the LC-52D65U 52-inch class and LC-46D65U 46-inch class. Aside from being a couple of big, bright boys, the company says both units are Energy Star-compliant and have a “Power Saving Mode,” which enables active contrast and active backlight via an on-screen menu. Those energy-saving features should make you feel a little bit better about the hours of TV you watch.
Each one features Sharp’s own Advanced Super View (ASV) / Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, a 6ms response time, and 176-degree viewing angles. Each one also has five HDMI 1.3 inputs, as well as two component, two composite, an S-Video and a dedicated PC input and RS-232C for system control.
Sharp’s LC-42D65U is available now for $1,600. The new models will be out in October, priced at $1,900 for the LC-46D65U and $2,400 for the LC-52D65U.
The D85 series offers the same sparkling picture, in a 52-, 46- or 42-inch package. This line also has the same energy-saving features, but throws in 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced technology. Other features include a 4ms response time, 10-bit Advanced Super View (ASV) / Black TFT Panel with Spectral Contrast Engine UD (Ultra Dark), 176-degree viewing angles, and five HDMI inputs.
The LC-52D85U ($2,600) and LC-46D85U ($2,200) will be available in October, with the LC-42D85U ($1,900) coming a month later.
