It’s hard to imagine anything making the router category very exciting. However, Securifi has found a way. The company’s new Almond WiFi router has a touchscreen interface.
First introduced at CES 2012 back in January, the Almond boasts an easy setup that doesn’t require a CD or even a computer. Instead, you can do everything right on the device’s 2.8-inch 320x240 TFT LCD touchscreen.
Other features include two internal MIMO antennas and 300Mbps 802.11b/g/n tech with industry-standard WEP/WPA/WPA2 security. The Almond also comes pre-configured, so it should be secure right out of the box.
“Almond has changed the way users set up and manage their wireless routers,” said Securifi’s CEO Rammohan Malasani. “One happy customer from Amazon.com best summarized how most consumers feel about Almond when he said, ‘Almond eliminates high blood pressure associated with installing a new router.’”
Securifi’s Almond has an MSRP of $99. At last peek, however, it was selling for $79 on Amazon.

Almond has another great feature—it can be set up as either a wireless router or as a range extender for your existing router.
As easy as it is to configure Almond as a router out of the box, configuring it as a range extender is even easier. You can watch me do it in 2 minutes 30 seconds right here: http://youtu.be/0d3skV1d
