There are some photos that you just can’t wait to upload to the Internet with giddy delight. Instead of waiting and wiring up your camera or transferring the SC card, Eye-Fi has the magic of Wi-Fi built into the card—making almost any camera wireless.
Eye-Fi just announced a 2GB SD card with built-in Wi-Fi technology and software. Once you’re within a wireless network, just turn on the camera and the Eye-Fi card automatically taps in. From there, you can start streaming photos to your desktop, or to online services such as Flickr. After all, sitting on the couch is much more fun than schlepping and loading photos to your PC, isn’t it?
During setup, you can choose from 17 different online photo sharing sites, as well as spots like Facebook, TypePad and other blogging sites. We didn’t see any mention of MySpace though. Once setup is complete, it will upload an unlimited amount of photos—or at least the 1,000 (or so) that the card can hold.
Sounds like this could be a neat gift idea. Is it just me or does anyone else have more than one family member with like 700 pictures on their camera’s SD card?
The Eye-Fi is available now for $99.99.
