There are more ways to have home control and energy management than ever. At CES, Schlage and Trane are showing the Nexia Home Intelligence system, which has been relaunched from Schalge’s LiNK control.

A Schlage Home Keypad Lock, Trane ComfortLink II Control and other Z-wave wireless devices can be remotely controlled by the system, which features a clean web-based interface and iPad, iPhone and Android apps. In addition, the system adds Powerhouse Dynamics’ eMonitor software that can measure the electricity used in your home.

Users can add, delete, change entry codes and program schedules. You can can also receive text alerts when kids arrive home or a contractor or the visitor arrives. A Schlage Wi-Fi video camera can also be added to the system, and there is video storage capability. Motion sensing will be added in the future.

At the CES demo, a Z-Wave connected Pella window shade was activated by the Nexia via Pella’s SmartSync technology, and the system has the ability to recognize sunrise and sunset by your Zip code, so you can enact automated scenes.

The Nexia system is even going to Disney. It is being used in a the Visions House in EPCOT’s Innoventions Pavilion, by Green Builder Media, at Disney World in Florida, to show how we can live sustainably and more energy-efficient today.

Nexia costs $8.99 per month, plus hardware costs. The Home Security Kit, which includes a Schlage Home Keypad Lock, Nexia Home Base to communicate with more than 200 Z-Wave devices in the home, and the Schlage Home Dimmer Module is $299 and is currently available through nexiahome.com, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s and select Lowe’s stores.
