Scandyna Speakers definitely is thinking outside the box, if you will, when it comes to their loudspeaker design. And if the name Podspeakers, used to describe their lineup, sounds like something out of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” well one look at these intriguing designs and alien pods might come to mind.
The company has been at it since 1965, so if you’re looking to combine performance with artistic design, Scandyna’s might be the speakers for you.
Here are some highlights of the pods:
The Minipod—a combination of three spheres to form one pressure-vessel, so there’s less cabinet vibration, sound radiation and distortion; from $849/pair
The Drop—featuring a five-inch bass/midrange driver and a one-inch tweeter, available in six colors; from $849/pair
The Micropod SE and Micropod SE Active—smaller spherical speakers with Kevlar bass/midrange and soft-dome tweeter, these are designed as complements for your MP3 stereo or computer sound system; $199/pair and $299/single, respectively
