A lot of people are slowly making the move to the iPhone 5 or newer iPad options. All of those latest iOS devices come packing Apple’s new Lightning connector. It’s very cool, but it also means that all of the docking stations and other add-ons you’ve amassed are basically just a bunch of super-cool doorstops.
Of course, you could opt for the adapter or get something new to match your new portable. Savant Systems is offering an option for those users, launching a new line of in-wall wireless charging docks for iOS devices with the Lightning connector. All three feature in-wall designs, but the IDC-100L works with the iPad mini, while the IDC-200L is designed for the fifth-gen iPad and the IDC-T00L is for the iPod/iPhone. As long as you have a device with a Lightning connector, you should be able to find something in this collection that will nestle that device and charge it at the same time.
The three new offerings are the first in a growing family of Lightning-compatible docks, which will include desktop and in-wall wired versions. Of course, Savant has a vested interest in keeping your iOS device charged up, since it’s one of the most popular ways homeowners tap into the company’s control system. Even when the device is docked, the user can access the touchscreen for control of Savant’s automation system.
Each of the new Lightning docks has a mounting plate and a back-box with a low-profile, magnetically attached bezel.
“The iPad mini has been widely adopted as a powerful user interface solution by Savant’s network of integrators as well as by end users,” explained Jim Carroll, executive VP of Corporate Strategy & Business Development at Savant. “Savant is pleased to deliver a docking solution for the iPad mini and other Lightning-compatible iOS devices to serve our customers.”
All three of Savant’s new Lightning docks are available now with bezel options in white, black, almond, polished chrome, satin nickel, oil bronze or a paintable primer finish.
