Video projection is starting to offer the same type of affordability as flat panels these days, especially when it comes to some of the latest 1080p units—companies such as Epson and Panasonic have been able to go sub-$3,000 for 1080p products that have been well received.

Though we haven’t heard about pricing yet, Sanyo has what it’s deeming an “entry-level” 1800p projector due out in October, the PLV-Z700 LCD model that serves up full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. **Update** Sanyo has given an official $1,995 price tag on the projector.

The short-throw projector can fill a 100-inch screen from less than 10 feet, and vertical shift of +/- 100 percent and horizontal shift of +/- 50 percent lend to installation flexibility.

A rapid lens adjustment helps present dynamic and deep color and give greater realism to sports and movies. Contrast ratio is said to be 10,000:1. When the projector is off, and automatic sliding shutter even prevents dust from piling up on the lens.

At 21 dB, the low-noise fan of this Sanyo model means you won’t have to worry about the projector drowning out any quiet moments of whatever movie or TV show you’re watching.

We’ll give you an update on cost when we hear it (it’s there, see above).

I just bought one at Best Buy for $1499. Its amazing! Although I have noticed that it Flickers a black screen during regular DVDs and some Games. But never a Blue Ray Disk. Not sure what the problem is. I hooked up the HDMI to a different DVD player other then the Playstation 3 and it still did it.

Might return for new Sanyo. Then again it could be the HDMI cable but I kind of doubt it because its made by Monster, cost $200 for a long one and has been fine for 2 years

We’ll see. Im troubleshooting
