It’s never easy to rock out next to the computer. Sanyo has just announced the R227, which allows you to take web radio into any room.

The R227 is a simple tabletop unit. However, it uses an Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi to tap into your home network. That way, you can listen to your favorite web radio stations without the need for a computer. The company says the unit can play thousands of stations, as well as podcasts, without charging extra.

Locate stations by country or genre. Once you find a few that you like, you can enter eight presets on the unit. That seems slightly low, no? Maybe not. According to a review on Digital Trends, Sanyo has a deal with the Reciva Internet radio service. That means you can only receive their stations anyway. That’s still over 14,000 options, though; you should be able to a find a few to fill the measly presets.

If you’re interested in extending your web radio addiction, it looks sort of promising. Sanyo says the R227 will start popping up next month for $170.
