Sanyo’s 52-inch CE52SR1 outdoor LCD
As outdoor A/V installations become more common, so to are the options that you can put in your great outdoors. We’ve seen inflatable screens, rock speakers, weatherproof TVs and more.
Sanyo‘s hopping into the outdoor pool party as well. The company has introduced its second-gen Waterproof Monitor, the CE52SR1, which is a full HD 1080p LCD set.
Oh yeah, it’s 52 inches, too, and sun-readable with marine-grade construction, the company says, so it can go into just about any outdoor installation and you’ll be able to see it from pretty good distances.
The contrast ratio is 1500:1, and the 1500 cd/m2 on-screen brightness means you shouldn’t have to wait until dusk to be able to watch it, Sanyo says.
The IP rating—for Ingress Protection, which sets environmental protection and enclosure specs—is a 66 for this second-gen model, up from 56 (the first number represents protection from dust; the second, protection against liquids), so there’s better protection against outdoor particles and you can still spray it with low-pressure water jets too.
There’s no HDMI (there is DVI-D), but the terminals do include RS-232 so it can be integrated into control systems. It can also get Sanyo’s PJ-net Organizer so you can control it with a web browser.
MSRP for the CE52SR1 is $13,995, and it will be available in October.
