Digital music is about to take another form—sort of. SanDisk just announced they are teaming up with four companies to sell slotMusic.

Of course, the music is still digital. However, instead of downloading, SanDisk is putting those MP3s on its MicroSD cards. According to Twice, each 1GB card will include DRM-free MP3s at up to 320kbps, as well as album artwork and other extras.

Just plug the card into your phone or MP3 player, and start listening. Don’t expect SanDisk to alienate those that don’t have a compatible player; an included adapter will allow users to listen on any device with a USB connection.

There’s no word on the cost of each slotMusic card or which artists will be available, but EMI, Song BMG, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Group will all be involved.

slotMusic will be available at major retailers such as Wal-Mart, starting next month.
