Samsung Launches Two Speaker Docks, One with Tube Amp
Both new speaker docks support iOS plus Galaxy devices via docks, Bluetooth and AllShare.

It’s still a week away from CES, but companies are leaking out some info on a few of their new products (last week we heard some of LG’s 3D TV plans). Samsung just revealed that it’s coming out with some new speaker docks.

The new speaker systems are designed for smart phones and tablets, which isn’t that unusual, but what makes the DA-E750 stand out is its use of a tube amplifier rather than more traditional amp. Many audiophiles rave over the warm sound (and nostalgic appeal) of tube amps.

The system isn’t 100-percent tube amplified. It’s a hybrid system in which the vacuum tube is used as the pre-amplifier while the power amplifier uses digital technology, so the audio dock is able to maintain its slim body.

The DA-E750 2.1, 100 watt, speaker arrangement includes a built-in subwoofer. The unit supports both Samsung Galaxy S Android smartphones as well as Apple iOS devices including iPods, iPhones, and even iPads via a dual docking structure. In addition to the dock connection, Samsung Galaxy devices can be connected via the company’s AllShare (a variety of DLNA) or Bluetooth while iOS devices can use Airplay.

The unit is finished in a high-gloss wood veneer, and the tube amp emits a visible, nostalgic glow.

Also announced is a non-tube speaker doc, the DA-E650 which is very similar in appearance and function, but used a built-in digital amp.

Prices for both product were not noted, but will probably be revealed next week at CES.
