Need another tablet in your mix? Make a note of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.
The Note 10.1 is a 10.1-inch Android tablet with a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel main camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has S Pen, which features 1,024 levels of sensitivity. That basically means you can jot down a few notes with the same precision of a pen and paper. For a little S Pen fun, the unit also comes packing a free copy of Photoshop Touch (normally $9.99).
Another nifty feature is Multiscreen, which allows users to multitask apps side-by-side on the same screen. View web pages while taking notes, check in on your home controls while watching a movie, and more—all without having to toggle back and forth between apps. Also, this functionality means you can capture and crop an image from an app on one side and drag it to the other. At launch, S Note, Internet Browser, Video Player, Email, Gallery and Polaris Office will all support the Multiscreen feature.
Other highlights include Polaris Office, the Pop up Play feature, a mini-apps tray, Barnes & Noble’s NOOK reading app, AllShare, and support for the Samsung Smart Remote, powered by Peel.
“Our goal with the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 was simple—redefine the tablet experience,” said Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America. “The S Pen offers both active content creation as well as passive content consumption, while the Multiscreen capability finally enables true multitasking. For the user, the resulting experience is completely new and quite unexpected.”
Samsung seems pretty eager about this one, too. It was announced today, but should be available for your sweaty hands by tomorrow, August 16, 2012. However, if you’re in New York City, you can snag the Galaxy Tab 10.1 now, at Best Buy’s Union Square store.
Available in white or dark gray and in 16GB or 32GB configurations, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has an MSRP of $499 and $549, respectively. That price also comes with a free 2-year subscription to Dropbox, with 50GB of storage. Also look for plenty of add-ons, such as the replacement S Pen, the S Pen Holder Kit, a Book Cover in Grey or White, a Travel Charger, the USB Connection Kit to allow usage of thumb drives or USB peripherals, an HDMI adapter and the Universal Desktop Dock.
