For those that still aren’t ready to commit to either high-def DVD format, Samsung is hoping you can commit some of your hard-earned cash to their Samsung BD-UP5500.
Just announced, this high-def DVD player is the big brother of the BD-UP5000, combining playback for both the HD DVD and Blu-ray formats. It also boasts Blu-ray Bonus features, which is the more marketing-friendly name for Profile 1.1 or Full Profile.
Other features include an HDMI 1.3 connection, touch controls, and 7.1-channel PCM, DTS-HD High Resolution and Master audio, and Dolby TrueHD Bistream output.
There’s no MSRP yet, but the BD-UP5500 is expected to hit in the second half of 2008. More pictures can be found in the slideshow.
