Samsung’s Blu-ray Resource Center
Samsung knows that Blu-ray is still catching on among the masses, so if you’re a Blu-ray enthusiast and already know everything about the format read no further. But if you’re like most people out there who might not even know the difference yet between Blu-ray and regular DVD, and have questions like “Will Blu-ray discs play in my current DVD player?” then Samsung wants you to head over to its new Blu-ray Resource Center on its website.
The company has launched this section of its website to promote Blu-ray products and technology, with things like FAQs, new product and firmware introductions from Samsung and even a live chat function whereby you can zip questions over to Samsung’s Blu-ray tech support specialist.
Samsung is targeting Blu-ray owners in one area, and those looking into purchasing Blu-ray in another.
The section for owners focuses on how to improve performance of your Blu-ray player and make the most of its features—maybe you don’t really know what the heck BD-Java does, or how to download firmware updates.
The “Looking to Buy” area presents some of the very basics about Blu-ray in a comprehensive FAQ section. Both sections also feature weekly topic articles (though perhaps this will be more monthly, considering the latest post is from June 1).
Samsung even lightens things up with the basics—one point has an asterisk about the blue laser. “Technically, it’s violet, but who’s keeping track?” So now we know why it’s not called Purpl-ray.
