At first glance, this cute little device looks like another iPod available in fancy new colors. Then you might see someone talk into it. They’re not crazy, and it’s not a scene out of “Alias.” It’s Samsung’s new SGH-X830—the mini MP3 phone.
The unit has all of your typical phone features, except when it’s not in use, it’s the perfect portable music player. The interface displays your playlist, equalizer setting and song info.
You have to admit though: The slick design and the click-wheel make it very reminiscent of the iPod. But if you had the choice between an iPod and an iPod that makes phone calls, which would you pick? (I would actually take the video one and become a hermit!)
Samsung’s X830 comes in crazy colors such as pure white, oasis blue, candy pink, lemon green—and then good ole orange and also black.
One thing it doesn’t have: U.S. distribution. The phone will first be released in Europe, and we should be able to pick up their sloppy seconds at some point.
