RIM has not officially announced the Remote Stereo Gateway product.
BlackBerry users could soon have another gadget to get addicted to. Rumors of the Remote Stereo Gateway have been floating for a while, but the Boy Genius Report says that the unit has been seen for a relatively cheap $80.
However, Tessco’s site doesn’t make ordering the add-on very easy. It’s hard to tell if the unit is actually available now, if it’s just for pre-order, or what. RIM isn’t helping matters, since they haven’t officially announced the product yet.
One thing we do know: what the device does. This Bluetooth transmitter takes all of the audio on your mobile phone and streams it to your home stereo. Flip a switch and the unit can also transfer music to a Bluetooth headset.
It sounds kind of neat—and at the very least, they don’t seem to be greedy by making it only work with RIM phones; everyone’s money is good here.
Aside from phones, the Gateway can also stream sound from your computer.
