We had a chance to test a few of the headphones and earphones mentioned in our recent headphone feature (“For Your Ears Only,” Dec. Electronic House), and what we found was that you can get pretty good performing headphones without spending a lot of money, whether you’re using them for exercise, pleasure or travel. Any of these four headphones would make an excellent gift for a music lover, frequent flier or workout warrior. Models tested were the Polk UltraFit 3000, Polk UltraFit 2000, Shure SRH550DJ, and Sennheiser Travel CXC 700.
