Harman’s Revel brand is putting a little boom into the Ultima2 Series, announcing a brand new subwoofer at the 2013 International CES. The new Rhythm2 powered subwoofer has an 18-inch woofer, 2,000 watts of amplifier power and built-in DSP room equalization.

Besides the 18-inch aluminum cast-frame front-firing woofer, the Rhythm2 has a neodymium-magnet motor system with a symmetrical magnetic field configuration. That amp also promises to drive the woofer to over 115dB and deliver bass down to below 20Hz. Other features include controls and connections for a configurable electronic crossover with adjustable delays, volume, line-level inputs, a USB port and more.

“Although it can deliver prodigious amounts of deep bass, that’s only part of Rhythm2’s capabilities,” said Jim Garrett, director of marketing and product management for Harman’s Luxury Audio Group and Loudspeakers. “Its built-in digital room EQ takes the contribution of the main speakers into account when measuring and adjusting the EQ of the subwoofer, which enables a system to achieve flatter and more accurate frequency response in any listening room.”

Available in piano black and mahogany, Harman will start selling the Revel Rhythm2 next month, with an MSRP of $10,000.
