I didn’t attend the Dwell on Design event in Los Angles last weekend, but if I had, definitely would have hit booth #1034, where Bradco Kitchens & Baths of L.A., demonstrated a kitchen countertop that slides to reveal a cooktop and downdraft.
The countertop extends to create a free hanging bar top, adding more room to pull up a seat and eat. On command from a handheld remote control, the countertop slides back into position, hiding the cooking surface … and the mess you might have made while whipping up a meal for your friends.
Custom-crafted by Bradco, the island with slider can be built in any size and shape to accommodate whatever type of appliances you want to tucked inside. With appliances pre-installed, the Slide N Hide product retails for $29,000. You can save a bit by buying the product for $22,000, then having the appliances put in later. Materials for the island cabinet and countertop are completely customizable, as well.

The hands-free option is a voice-activated and Internet-connected assistant for the home.
