Qwest Launches Shopping Kiosks
The new retail locations allow consumers to test out voice, web, wireless, TV and other services.
October 16, 2008 | by Rachel Cericola

It’s easy to test out a camera or TV and take it back if you’re not happy with the results. Fiber-optic Internet? Well, that’s a bit more difficult. If you have the time to wait around, you could sign up and out of services—or you could check out one of the new Qwest kiosks coming to a shopping center near you.

Qwest has opened a total of 11 interactive kiosks in Colorado, Iowa, North Dakota, Washington and Arizona. Another 31 locations are coming across the company’s 14-state region.

Each kiosk will show off a slew of residential and small-business products, including voice services, high-speed and fiber-optic web services, Verizon Wireless service, and DirecTV. Sure they want you to sign up, but the idea is that potential customers can sample all of the services they offer. Then you can mix and match. “Qwest offers a product set that provides the means to connect people to what’s most important in their lives, at home and on the go,” said Jim Vogel, Qwest’s VP.

Aside from demos, you can play games, watch DirecTV on Demand titles, test out web-based home monitoring and more. Maybe you should forward your mail; it sounds like you can spend some serious time there. For a list of all of the locations, check out Qwest’s website.
