Q. My church is to begin projecting videos on a wall. We have no screen at this time, and will be projecting directly onto a painted wall. Is there a color or finish that might be best?

A. Hi Margaret, ideally the wall is the last thing you should be throwing a projector image on, but if that’s the case it should be matte white.

With that said, however, you may want to look into an affordable screen from companies like Draper, Elite Screens, Snap AV and Da-Lite.

Another option is the company Goo Systems. Goo Systems manufactures wall-paint kits that will provide better performance than a matte white paint from your local hardware store.

Throwing an image on a plain wall will result in lost detail, clarity, color depth and grayscale (increments of the different shades of gray that make up the differences of dark to light graphic information).
