PSB Speakers’ Imagine family in dark cherry

PSB Speakers wants you to “imagine” what “affordable high-end” loudspeakers should be like. Got that image in your head? OK—now does it come in dark cherry and black ash veneers?

That’s how PSB’s new “Imagine” line looks, and it will show off these beauties at CEDIA Expo 2008 this fall. The series consists of the Imagine T three-way tower speakers, Imagine B two-way bookshelf models, Imagine C two-way center channel and Imagine S tri-mode surround channel.

You’ll find sonic precision with solid cabinet construction and a touch of hand craftsmanship in the Imagine line. Each enclosure is acoustically inert, and 1.5-inch-thick baffles and fastener-less driver mounts deliver a smooth response and carefully calculated horizontal dispersion.

The Toronto-area manufacturer got the Canadian seal of approval basically for the Imagine line, as it went from prototype to finished product thanks to the help of research conducted at the National Research Council’s anechoic chamber and listening studio facilities in Ottawa. Company founder and chief designer Paul Barton has been relying on the NRC for his study of speakers, room acoustics and listening evaluations for three decades, and it looks like the Imagine passed all tests with flying colors.

Along with the sonic prowess, the Imagine line has stunning looks. The aforementioned black ash an dark cherry veneer options get a “cathedral"-matched, satin finish for smooth, subtly curvy cabinets that will enhance any theater or media room.

Pricing is: Imagine T $2,000/pair; Imagine B $1,000/pair; Imagine C $800 each; and Imagine S $1,200/pair.
