Last week, we were talking up Proficient’s GS10 subwoofer. Well, they actually have a little buddy. The company says that those subs pair very nicely with the newly announced GL6 cabinet loudspeaker.
As part of the Proficient Signature Series, the GL6 is designed for both two-channel and larger home theater systems. This flagship model has two 6.5-inch woofers and one 1-inch tweeter packed inside a seven-layer glossy black cabinet.
Proficient says that the dual Injected Molded Graphite woofers can create a focused vertical output and wide horizontal dispersion pattern. That basically means higher output and better detail, with lower distortion than your typical single-woofer system. That tweeter adds in high-frequency reproduction, thanks to its dome shape and silk material.
“We really owe our acoustics engineers for this one. Both are committed, career loudspeaker devotees who came up through the ranks in recording studios and tour sound. They took an aggressive set of performance criteria and turned it into a truly formidable loudspeaker,” said Keith Marshall, Proficient’s president. “Their efforts are obvious and the results are outstanding. The GL6 loudspeaker will sit at the very top of our brand.”
Proficient will start shipping the GL6 sometime in the fourth quarter of 2011. Backed by a 10-year full warranty, it will have an MSRP of $750 each.
