Proficient’s PS Series features three different subwoofer models.
If you need to add a Barry White-sized jolt to your home theater system, Proficient has got something for you—baby.
The company just announced the PS Series, a line of three new subs to go with your many musical moods. Each one has an LFE input and automatically turns on when it senses a signal.
The big boy in the line is the PS12 ($550), which includes a 12-inch woofer and a 250-watt internal amp. Measuring 17 x 14 x 17-13/16 inches, it also features a frequency response of 28 Hz to 200 Hz.
Proficient says that the PS10 ($450) is a bit smaller, with a 10-inch woofer and 120-watt amplifier. Measuring 13-3/4 x 11-1/2 x 16-3/4 inches makes it easy to tuck the unit into a corner—but it’s far from forgotten. The frequency response is 32 Hz to 200 Hz.
Finally, the PS8 ($350) is the baby of the group, with a 12-1/4 x 9-7/8 x 15-1/4-inch footprint, an 8-inch woofer and an 80-watt amplifier. The frequency response on the PS8 is 45 Hz to 200 Hz.
“It’s nice to be able to start with a totally clean slate when we refresh a product line,” said Keith Marshall, Proficient’s president. “We started fresh with an entirely new drive system. The drivers and motor structure, plus the amp plate and eq section are all new. A newly designed black ash cabinet has rear vents to lower distortion.”
Proficient says that the PS Series will start shipping in October.
