Home control is no longer confined to the big house and/or the big budget. A Korean company just launched the Prizm Home Hub on Kickstarter, with prices starting under $300.

For that price, you’ll get in on the ground floor of this home device, which can connect lights, locks, thermostats, sensors, cameras and much more. It doesn’t need a closet or fancy controllers, either. It’s so compact, it can sit on a shelf or counter-top and accepts commands from a smartphone or tablet—from anywhere with a web connection.

The Prizm Hub has a 5-inch touchscreen, as well as built-in temperature, humidity, and occupancy sensors. It supports Z-Wave, which means it can work with hundreds of other products. However, the device also has an open platform, so developers can make all sorts of super-cool add-ons, apps and accessories.

As we mentioned, the Prizm Home Hub is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. The company is offering a variety of Prizm packages, with hopes of raising $200,000. If all goes well, the Prizm Home Hub will start shipping in July 2013.
