Yamaha’s YSP-3050 Soundbar Packs Punch
Yamaha’s YSP-3050 Digital Sound Projector
HDMI video upconversion to 1080i and multiple Cinema DSP and "beam" settings mark the YSP-3050 Digital Sound Projector from Yamaha.
Need to free up some living room space? Still relying on those built-in TV speakers for your TV and movie audio?
Maybe you’re not headed for full 5.1 or 7.1 surround, but there’s a reason soundbars are a pretty hot category these days—a noticeable jump in audio quality, convenience and aesthetic appeal. Count the new YSP-3050 Digital Sound Projector from Yamaha in those categories.
It’s chock full of audio and enhancements: 21 beam drivers, and two woofers, 23 corresponding digital amplifiers, three Cinema DSP programs (movie, music and sports), analog to HDMI video upconversion, high definition video upscaling to 1080i/720p and a 1080p (24Hz and 60Hz) compatible HDMI interface with two inputs and one output to facilitate pure digital connections with the latest home theater components. That’s straight from the horse’s mouth, and what a mouthful it is.
You can cater the “beamed” sound to suit just about any application—settings include 5-beam, 3-beam, 3-beam + stereo, 2-channel stereo, My Beam, 5-channel stereo and My Surround modes.
The YSP-3050 can also make a champ out of your iPod music too, with its optional YDS-11 dock and Yamaha’s proprietary Compressed Music Enhancer technology. You can even control your iPod with a remote and view navigation on-screen.
There are other goodies like TV Equal Volume mode and Night Listening Enhancer so you don’t get blasted with volume surges and can also listen with clarity at low levels.
MSRP on the YSP-3050 is $1,399.
