Yamaha Ships AVENTAGE BD-A1020 Universal Blu-ray Player
The Blu-ray player updates its predecessor with new features and WiFi.
Yamaha is putting all of its eggs into a new basket—or at least all of its features into a new component. The new AVENTAGE BD-A1020 Universal Blu-ray Player updates its predecessor, adding a lot of the features you’d want in a high-end player.
Since it’s a universal player, the BD-A1020 can handle pretty much any and all 5-inch formats, including 2D and 3D Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs.
Designed as a complement to Yamaha’s AVENTAGE AV receivers, this model has built-in WiFi, which makes it easy to tap into the player’s support for Netflix and YouTube streaming. It can also be paired up with a smartphone or tablet, as well as one of Yamaha’s free controller apps for Apple iOS, Android and Kindle Fire devices.
Other features include a 192kHz/32-bit audio DAC, the Pure Direct mode, DLNA certification, x.v.Color and Deep Color enhancements for video playback, HD Audio decoding, and an RC-232C port. When paired with a Yamaha receiver, it also works with the company’s SCENE mode.
“Our BD-A1020 AVENTAGE universal Blu-ray player delivers content from a wide array of formats, including Blu-ray 3D, SACD and DVD Audio, with the best possible video and audio reproduction for the ultimate home theater or pure audio experiences,” said Tom Sumner, senior vice president of Yamaha Corporation of America. “This model builds on the cult success of our BD-A1010 universal player, which received widespread critical and consumer praise.”
Yamaha is selling the BD-A1020 now, with an MSRP of $449.95.
