We recently showed off the 19-speaker audio system in a Lexus, so for a little equal time in satisfying our occasional luxury automobile fix, we bring you the new Jaguar XKR Portfolio and its Bowers & Wilkins system.

The Jaguar XKR Portfolio will be the first production car in the world to feature an audio system specially designed to meet premier British loudspeaker company Bowers & Wilkins’ exacting specifications, according to the company. And that means engineering from the same people who tune B&W’s 800 Diamond Series loudspeakers that serve as audio reference in Abbey Road Studios and other recording studios worldwide.

Specifically designed and developed for the Jaguar XKR Portfolio, the audio system includes key Bowers & Wilkins elements, including improved-dispersion Kevlar mid-range speakers and extended high-frequency performance aluminum tweeters, says B&W. Kevlar speakers in the XKR Portfolio have been crafted to improve the sonic purity of the signal and dispersion is much more uniform across the frequency range, leading to significantly clearer response and more fine detail. Aluminum was selected for the tweeter domes based on the stiffness properties required to ensure an extended, distortion-free high-frequency response, the company says.

The Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system is fitted as standard in all Jaguar XKR Portfolios. Jaguar expects the cars to be available in the UK and worldwide for delivery in early summer.
