TruAudio Redesigns SUB Series for Power, Performance
TruAudio’s SUB-8 subwoofer
The new SUB Series will take the place of TruAudio's current CS Subwoofer line and comes in three models, $350 to $650.
TruAudio has subbed out one of its lines of subs. The company has introduced its redesigned SUB Series to take the place of its current CS Subwoofer line to mee the higher demands of today’s audio/video, the company says.
The newly designed cone is a cellulose composite material whose ridged, stiff and durable qualities makes it ideal for subwoofer production, TruAudio says. The drivers also incorporate large magnets and voice coils that allow for high volumes and deep, rolling bass. TruAudio says it bench tests every subwoofer driver before being mounted in the cabinet to ensure that it holds up to the company’s strict specifications.
The SUB Series models’ new amplifiers use heavy-duty transformers to minimize unwanted heat build up to help ensure a long lifespan as well as low distortion and powerful reproduction of music and home theater audio. Each amplifier offers specific power output matched with the specific woofer size for each model, ranging from 100 watts to 200 watts.
The cabinets feature two large front-loaded ports below the woofer that allow for more air to escape when the sub is at high volumes, according to TruAudio. This provides deeper bass and longer life to the subwoofer and amplifier, the company adds. And because the ports are on the front of the sub, it can be mounted into cabinetry without sacrificing any performance, and therefore have more placement flexibility to meet the homeowners’ needs. The cabinet features a light textured finish and smoothly rounded corners which make these subs look more like an expensive piece of furniture.
The SUB Series consists of the models SUB-8, SUB-10 and SUB-12 and are $350, $450 and $650, respectively, at retail. The model number designates the driver size and they are powered with internal amps that are 100, 150 and 200 watts, respectively. All the subs also feature line level RCA inputs, speaker level, LFE, Auto-On/On/Off selection, and Phase control.
