Has it really been 27 years since National Lampoon’s Vacation hit the big screen, reinforcing the facts that Chevy Chase was one of the funniest people around and Christie Brinkley was perhaps the best looking woman on the planet back then?

Well, Chevy might not be any funnier in high-definition, but you may want to pick up Vacation when it arrives on Blu-ray this week to see Christie zooming around in a Ferrari and jumping into the pool in 1080p. There aren’t a whole lot of interesting picks for this week, but Vacation and even its subpar follow-up European Vacation are sure to give you some good laughs.

If there’s a Chevy Chase for the 2000s, maybe it’s Steve Carell. No, he wasn’t a Saturday Night Live alum, but maybe that’s for the best as many of their movie projects aren’t nearly as funny. However, Carell gets to star with one in Date Night, as he and Tina Fey make the Blu-ray rounds this week. Most of Carell’s big-screen work has been solid so far, so Date Night oughta be worth a rental.

If it’s more of a classic you’re after, a family comedy to arrive on Blu-ray this week is 1972’s What’s Up, Doc? It stars Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal, who obviously gained favor with director Peter Bogdanovich during this era as he would also star in Paper Moon. We’re sure the Blu-ray transfer breathes some new life into that early 70s gaudiness.

For those looking for more of a fringe subject movie, try Crumb. It’s a fascinating perspective into the mind of controversial comic artist Robert Crumb.

Unfortunately, no cool concerts to report on Blu-ray this week, so let’s get to the full release schedule (courtesy of Blu-ray.com):
