The Best Time to Buy a 3D TV
Attendees to Campus Movie Fest check out 3D TVs
November pegged as the month to invest.
3D is one of the hottest technologies in the marketplace today, but if you want the best deal on a 3D TV, wait until November to part with your cash, says a report by Retrevo. According to the report, shoppers should expect to see the price of premium 3D TVs (47-50 inch) drop between now and the holiday shopping season. Right now, the price premium of a 3D TV over equivalent top brand non-3D TVs is $400 (down from $900 a year ago). This could drop as low as $150 - $200 around November. Retrevo predicts that consumers could see Black Friday prices on large-screen 3D TVs drop to under $700.
To wet your 3D whistle, check out two award-winning 3D shorts at Campusmoivefest. The five-minute films were awarded top honors recently at Campus MovieFest (CMF), the world’s largest student film festival, in partnership with Panasonic and the International 3D Society (I3DS). CMF selected approximately 50 student filmmaking teams, providing them with 3D camcorders and 3D TVs to help make their movies. “… we expect that not just filmmakers, but also consumers, will want to create their own 3D content …, says Christopher Rice, senior product manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. To inspire consumers to shoot in 3D, visitors to Campusmoviefest can save on Panasonic 3D products by clicking on the PanasonicDirect logo.
