
A few years ago when the home video industry transitioned from DVDs to Blu-ray discs, most experts touted Blu-ray’s HD video and BD Live functions as the primary reasons to adopt the new format.
Overlooked during this hype was the exponential improvement Blu-ray offered in sheer audio performance. By leaving behind the lossy, compressed Dolby Digital and DTS formats of DVDs for the high-resolution audio of Blu-ray, home theater owners were able to experience studio-quality audio soundtracks in the comfort of their living rooms.
