Sony Launches Music Unlimited App for iOS
The new app promises 320kbps AAC high-quality audio streaming for the iPhone and iPod touch.
One of the unique things about Sony’s web-connected HDTVs and Blu-ray players is the Sony Music Unlimited service. While you may brush this off as just another monthly subscription, know that it is a very cool service—and one that’s now available on your iPhone and iPod touch.
Sony just announced plans to launch the service on those iOS devices. The new app promises 320kbps AAC high-quality audio streaming, as well as offline playback.
Having that offline option allows users to download playlists, albums, and individual songs for playback on a plane, while exercising, or for any other activity where you can’t or don’t want to use your data plan.
Music Unlimited hosts about 20 million songs, which are all available on-demand. Sony offers a free 30-day trial of the service. After that, expect to pay $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year for Premium access. There’s also an at-home plan available for $4.99 per month.
Sony’s Music Unlimited app is now available as a free download via the iTunes App Store. There’s also an Android version available at the Google Play Store.
