It’s hard to scrimp and save for something that you don’t know a whole lot about. So more details about the PlayStation 3 are much appreciated—and it’s about time!

About 20 games will be available for stocking stuffers. No surprise on the pricing: Most will run about $60 a pop. The Sony titles are “Resistance: Fall of Man,” “NBA 07” and “Genji: Days of the Blade.” The rest are third-party titles, many of them very familiar to game geeks—Tony Hawk, Tiger Woods, Sonic the Hedgehog, Madden NFL, “Call of Duty,” and more.

Next is something called the “PlayStation Network,” which will provide consumers with the ability to surf the Web, download games and music, and taunt opponents via voice and video chat.

Last, but certainly most exciting, are the peripherals. A separate wireless controller will be available for $49.99 (one is included, but who likes to play alone?). A memory card adaptor will run $14.99, and a remote for the Blu-ray player will be $24.99.

Also as an added bonus, each PS3 will come with a Blu-ray version of Will Ferrell’s “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” which won’t be available to those not willing to blow 500 bucks on video games until December 12.

  • PS3 available November 17
