You might not have $10K kicking around, but if you did, I highly recommend that you blow the whole roll on SIM2’s D80.

This monster movie machine is built around the new Texas Instruments 0.95-inch 1080p DarkChip3 DMD chipset, which makes those high-def DVD players well worth the extra investment. Wow—those guys certainly have come a long way since Speak & Spell, haven’t they?

It’s got inputs aplenty for HDMI, VGA, component, composite, and S-Video. Other highlights include a rear-panel RS-232 port, dual 12-volt trigger outputs, a contrast ratio of 4,000:1 and the capability to display 16:9, 4:3, and Letterbox formats.

  • $9,995
  • 1080p resolution
  • 10-bit processing
  • Proprietary Alpha Path light engine
  • Contrast ratio 4,000:1
  • HDMI, VGA, component, composite & S-Video inputs
